This docking station for Securebook 5.0's adds WiFi connectivity to your Securebook when the Securebook is docked. It does not have any other purpose, it only adds WiFi connectivity.
We also separately make a dock that adds USB, Ethernet, and HDMI connectivity.
We do not make a dock that adds WiFi and USB connectivity. This is because when using WiFi we are usually locking students to a WiFi signal and not monitoring them as closely, so we do not want them having access to the USB functionality.
If your facility is using WiFi to connect students to Canvas, a local network, or the Internet, you will want one WiFi dock per desk or student location (not necessarily one dock per laptop).
Your facility will also want a set (6-8) of USB docks to manage devices via USB functionality, and perhaps 1 USB dock per living unit for printing or loading documents.
Technical Notes:
Windows does not auto-update to the best drivers for this device, please install this package for WiFi drivers on the WiFi dock. The driver package is on the Securebook 5.0 Product Page.
In your windows device manager, under network adapters, this dock will appear as "802.11ac Wireless LAN Card" and after installing the above driver package, the driver date will show as 10/28/2015. The installation officially occurs on the first reboot and can take about 15 minutes during the reboot process.
Prior to installing this software, the driver date will be 4/21/2015 and the native Update Driver button does not find the newer driver. You must use the process detailed on the Securebook 5.0 product page.
